Your Newborn Design Consultation

Whether you have a clear vision or would like guidance from the beginning, your design consultation gives us time to create a cohesive plan. We discuss colors, props, family portraits, and the finished artwork you have in mind. You do not need to arrive with a complete theme or a shopping list.

Choosing Colors for Your Newborn Portraits

Some parents choose a favorite color; others look to their nursery or the rooms where their portraits will hang. I also help select shades that complement your baby's complexion. I often recommend two to four colors or related shades, with neutrals to bring the different sets together.

Soft combinations include pink and cream, sage with light blue and cream, or blush pink with mauve. For richer palettes, I love emerald and teal, or raspberry with gold and deep mauve. One berry-toned session brought together pinks from delicate blush to deeper shades, creating variety without losing the connection between the images.

Planning With Your Finished Artwork in Mind

I work backward from the finished photographs: how will these colors look together in an album spread, above a mantel, or as a grouping on your wall? Thinking about your heirloom albums and framed wall art at the planning stage helps the whole collection feel intentional.

Selecting Props and Personal Details

Once we choose the palette, we discuss the props. Look through my newborn work and note the pieces you are drawn to. Favorites such as the heart bowl and bucket can be part of our discussion, alongside other pieces from the studio collection.

A love of music, baseball, or a fairy-inspired theme can give us a starting point for a personal set. Share your ideas during the consultation so we can discuss how to bring them into your portraits. Your baby's comfort guides the session, and the final setups can adapt to how your baby settles that day.
